MAKEUP WIPES ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS

Makeup wipes have become that lazy "woman's" way of taking makeup off, we get it you had a long day but is it really the best way to clean off your makeup at any point of the day? Let me share my experience.
My friend and I came back from a photo shoot at night. I couldn't walk around too much cause I was tired. I had to clean my makeup off though, so she handed me a makeup wipe, Cleaned my face, went to sleep and woke up with a horrid rash on my face. I have sensitive skin, so went it reacts, it'll react bad. That whole week I had to deal with getting my skin back to base.

Why did this happen?
Face wipes contain chemicals and preservatives to prevent fungal growth. Those chemicals are not good when left on the skin and can cause severe skin irritation. Experts also think makeup wipes just smear around makeup, dirt and oils around your skin and not necessarily cleanse your skin. I think they remove surface makeup but they could also press makeup, dirt and clog your pores when used incorrectly and that causes inflammation, bacterial growth and ,yes, acne. If you don't know, most makeup wipes have alcohol in them to ensure the liquid in them evaporates and does not remain long on the skin, and this removes facial oils and causes dehydration. So think of it this way, your sleeping with tons of chemicals on your face probably more than what is contained in your makeup and dried out skin that'll have you question your methods.

Verdict
Makeup wipes are not a bad idea and most times are never the problem. It's a lazy skin care routine that causes most of the hazards. After using them, please follow up with your skin care routine or just simply wash your face with your cleanser and rinse off with water to avoid stories that touch. I advise people with irritated skin or skin conditions like eczema, rosacea to stay clear off face wipes as they become more irritated and worsened. People with acne should use face wipes containing salicylic acid, as they help to unclog pores. When taking of your makeup, I suggest you invest in an oil like coconut oil to remove your makeup easily, because repeated rubbing on your skin could cause premature ageing. People with sensitive skin like me should use wipes created for them as they contain less chemicals.
So be good to your skin, you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life.
